Writetober 2023, Day 28: 'Edge'

 Every year on her birthday, Ria and her dad would climb up a mountain. As Ria got older, they would go higher and higher. When she turned 18, they finally reached the peak of the mountain. At the top was a beautiful waterfall..

"Oh wow! We finally reached the top!" said Ria.  Her dad swiftly replied with, "So how's it feel at the top? You wanna find a new mountain?" She didn't respond. Instead, she stepped closer and closer to the waterfall. She knew she couldn't, but she felt the need to step on the other side to ratify her years of curiosity. The curiosity took over any kind of moral compass she had. It was her mission. 

Her dad yelled at her to come back, but she didn't. She kept going until she fell. Suddenly, gravity took hold. Her life flashed behind her eyes. She saw people she loved, people she hated.. People she helped, and people she hurt. Time slowed down, until she passed out. She woke up in a hospital. Her family was glad to see she was okay.. Her dad lectured her for being so careless. She didn't listen, though, drifting off..
