Writetober 2023, Day 19: 'curiosity killed the... ?'
As a kid, I loved to explore the neighborhood. On weekends, I walked around my street and formulate adventures based on my surroundings. From time to time, I'd even visit a friend of mine, Reya. We'd often walk across her neighborhood. When we turned 14, our parents allowed us to explore further, in our neighboring town. One day, me and her were walking across the border. We stumbled upon a small cafe and bookshop that appeared to be destroyed.. The first time we went, we didn't go inside. The many times we passed through, our curiosity only grew.
Unfortunately, we let our curiosity get the best of us. We went inside the cafe, seeing its fall from grace. The store was completely run-down, with tables and chairs missing legs. At the corner of the quaint shop was a series of small bookshelves. The bookshelves were filled with novels and biographies alike. Each book had its own unique character to it, showing marks of age and loving scribbles.
After a while, we got caught in the story. We kept on reading, being hypnotized by each of the books. We couldn't escape, our eyes were purely fixated on the pages and the words. We couldn't look away, it had become our permanent obsession. The only thing we could look at..
Don't let curiosity get the best of you. Please.
