Writetober 2023: Day 13: 'Ignorance'

Once upon a time, there was a city called Norabliss. On the surface, it appeared perfect; the residents were all happy, productive, and led satisfactory lives. However, Norabliss had a little-known underground. The underground was filled with skeptics and cynics alike. The skeptics doubted if Norabliss was as perfect as it seemed and actively sought to find out the truth behind the utopia. Many of Norabliss's skeptics resided in Norabliss's barren badlands. One of the skeptics, Anya, heavily suspected that the city's residents were being brainwashed. Due to this, she avoided the main city. The cynics opined that Norabliss was in a dome that trapped and brainwashed its residents. 

The skeptics suspected the badlands were immune from brainwashing. One day, the city government decided to expand to include more housing for families. Most of the city had already been expanded, so the government sought to build housing in the badlands. The government finally came to the badlands, finding the cynics. The skeptics were to be convicted for thinking freely and holding opinions against the government. Instead of being convicted, the underground faced their worst fear: being brainwashed. If you find yourself even on the outskirts of Norabliss, escape while you can. Before ignorance becomes your bliss.
